End of 5th Month

This is at the end of my 5th month (beginning of 6th month) during our trip to Waco and Dallas at the beginning of March 2006. We are on our way home stopping at the Texas-Oklahoma border. I'm starting to show now (but feel that people think I'm just fat!!). The trip went well and I felt pretty good when we got back. We were able to visit with friends in Waco (Ralph Wood, Kathy Van Wolfe & Terry Sefcik) and visit the Baylor University campus where we did some baby shopping at the campus bookstore!

We went to our third visit to the baby doctor. I had a dud of a doctor (I hope he doesn't deliver me!!). We had our big ultrasound and let's first say that the baby is a very mobile child. At first I didn't think that he or she would cooperate, but they were able to pinpoint the gender and was very certain. Are you ready?!? IT'S A GIRL!!! She's right on track for her due date so far and everything looked great! Everyone is so happy!! It was definitely a surreal experience! I haven't started to feel her kick yet, but they said it might take a little longer since my placenta is attached directly in the front of my stomach. There are a lot of layers for the baby to kick through!! I will wait patiently I guess, but I'm anxious to feel her move inside me. I'm feeling good so far. I have just the usually pains from my ever expanding stomach, so I'm very fortuante.

Stick with me, we're half way there!!

End of 4th Month

I'm at the end of my 4th month now and I'm starting to show a little. I know you can't see, but the shirt I'm wearing is a souvenir from our D.C. trip. It says, "You don't know me...Witness Protection Program". Very cool!!

We had our second baby doctor visit this month. We saw a wonderful doctor, Dr. Gorman. He quoted Billy Joel to me and I knew he was a genius!! Galen and I got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time. We even heard the baby kick!! It was very exciting for us! I also had my AFP blood test to check for abnormalities, but don't worry, all is clear. The baby is growing and is healthy!! We prayed so often that the test would come back normal, so we thank the Lord for his providence!

Next month is the big month...we find out the gender of the baby and get to really see him or her for the first time!!

End of 3rd Month

This is a picture of me at the end of my 3rd month. It's in a little different format than the others. Of course, I'm standing in front of the most famous residence in America...the White House! This was on our trip to Washington, D.C. during our Christmas break. Galen had a conference to attend the week after seeing our family in North Carolina for Christmas. We had a wonderful time and saw a lot, but it was very tiring for my slowly growing body!!

We saw my baby doctor, Dr. Hix, right before our big trip. This was our first visit and we were told that our baby will be due, July 7, 2006! I have a wonderful women's clinic that I'm attending and will deliver at a women's hospital about 30 minutes from the house. I'm in very good hands!! I will have to see all the different doctors in the clinic, which is a drag, but it's all part of the experience I guess.

Things are going smoothly and we'll see you next month!!

Our Famous First Baby!!

As promised...a picture of our first baby, Winston!! This picture was taken in September 2005 while Galen, Winston and I were on our way back to North Carolina for Galen's parents' 50th wedding anniversary. This was taken at the North Carolina-Tennessee border. Winston is now 7 years old!! Can you believe it?!? We are wondering how he will handle the adjustment to the new baby. We are hoping he will be a great big brother!!

End of 2nd Month

Still look the same!! I've had some minor complications, so I've had to have a couple of ultrasounds this month. We did get to see the first picture of the baby though. It looks like a little fuzzy peanut. So far, things are looking up and I'm fortunately not having the normal "morning sickness" troubles. Let's hope that the rest of the pregnancy is uneventful, but we've got a ways to go!!

See you in Month 3!!

End of 1st Month

Call this the starting point picture!! This is my photo taken after the first month of my pregnancy. I found out I was pregnant on October 27, 2005 (the day before my 33rd birthday). It was an exciting day! Galen and I had just celebrated our 10th anniversary on July 15th, so this baby is a much planned "surprise".

We are all excited, but still a little scared. There's no going back now!! This will be the 6th grandchild for my parents and the 4th grandchild for Galen's parents. Of course, with all boys on Galen's side, his mother is hoping for a little girl! Galen and I are both in agreement that we would be happy with either, but a girl would be our preference.

Stay tuned for more baby news including if we all get our wish or not...
